Dr. Anandakumar V M has been working as Principal at VTM NSS College, Dhanuvachapuram, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala since 7th June 2019. He is also a Research Supervisor, and has worked as Associate Professor at Department of Physics & Research Center, Mahatma Gandhi College, Thiruvananthapuram for 15 years. He joined service on 14th February 1996, thus having completed twenty nine years of service in various NSS Colleges. Being a teacher who works with precision and insight he has been a constant source of support and inspiration for the student community hailing from the varied socio-cultural strata of the society.

A devoted academician an efficient researcher, his areas of research include synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials with novel properties. He has one minor project (completed), twenty research articles and twenty three paper presentations/invited lectures in conferences (five international) to his credit. He is also an approved research guide with the University of Kerala and has thrice served as the expert of Ph.D pre-submission seminars within the University of Kerala. His academic credentials ever since his student days have been endorsed with Best Poster Award for “Synthesis, characterization and DC conductivity of nanocrystalline lead molybdate”, in the 52nd DAE Solid State Symposium sponsored by Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences, Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India from December 27-31, 2007, University of Mysore. He has been bestowed Ross Gold Medal, T Padmanabha Rao Medal, V S Subramonia Iyer Gold Medal, and V. Sivaramakrishna Iyer Medal for scoring highest marks and highest percentage in MSc Physics. He also holds the honor of acquiring 2nd rank in University of Kerala (MSc 1992) and the position of University Merit Scholar (BSc 1987).

His contribution to the realm of higher education doesn’t limit itself to his academic endeavors. He has proved his excellence in administrative as well as extension activities. He is currently Secretary of the Mahatma Gandhi College Council, thereby extending his administrative potentials for the healthy functioning of the institution. He served twice as the convener of the UG Admission procedures of Mahatma Gandhi College. He is also the Secretary of the Mahatma Gandhi College Co-operative Society which has shown an appreciative advancement in its functioning ever since he joined office. Being the Secretary of University College Physics Society he makes sure of the contribution of the alumni to the academic and career advancement of the students, society and posterity. He also serves as Secretary of Green view Yellow sapphire Apartment Owner’s Association which elucidates his capabilities of social interaction and commitment.
